Countless times I've gone up alone to gaze at meteors and stars and dream. Other times I have gone up hoping to gaze and been chased away by sprinklers! Once, our library took a group up there star watching. It was splendid fun.
It is a nice walk, only a few blocks, but the last bit is uphill. I love walking there at night because it is so peaceful. Sometimes you hear coyote, other times you only hear cars and the wind in the trees. If you go up before the wheat is cut, you hear the rustle of dried wheat blowing in the hot breeze.
Tonight, when I went up, I forgot one of the most important things one needs when wandering in a cemetery in the dark. Yup, my flashlight. Some of those stones are NOT set well and I had to use my antiquated cell to illuminate my way. I didn't trip, thankfully, but when I stopped to sit on 'Father', the stone wiggled. I was not impressed.
I was impressed with how easy it was for me to walk those blocks. I reckon my summer in AK and the few activities I did were a good idea! I guess my sore leg isn't quite ready to be a zombie limb after all.
