There is so much wisdom within the pages of this very short book. Some might think it is just about birds. It is more than a story of the life of a bird. I laugh whenever I pick it up because of the irritating title. There is NO SUCH THING as a seagull bird. They are gulls. I try to remember it is the last name the author gave Jonathan--like Nuffer or Valewatch, only more birdlike.
This book is incredibly quotable. I believe the quote below about friendship is probably one of the most popular ones. Being able to have a relationship where space and time don't exist is beautiful in our world of clocks and agendas and places. Allowing ourselves to be free to fly in the direction we were meant to is another theme found in this story. To be able to look beyond our limitations and love unconditionally all the time is a gift not many have. I wish I had it.
If our friendship depends on things like space and time, we've destroyed our own brotherhood! But overcome space, and all we have left is Here. Overcome time, and all we have left is Now. And in the middle of Here and Now, don't you think that we might see each other once or twice?”--Richard Bach
