Tonight followed in those magical footsteps. We had one young man ask for 20 million dollars. We had another ask for 'Chilly Beans' (I got to read the letter, he spelled it exactly like this!) and I imagined a huddling group of green veggies in hats and scarves under the tree. A young lady asked for sulphuric acid-she wants to be a scientist. There were the usual requests for ponies, gaming devices, roller skates, assorted guns (obviously, these kids need to see that absolutely awful Christmas movie), and Barbies.
After the kids talk to Santa, the Lions club has an area set up where the kids get to choose a book. One young man was thrilled to get a new book! He almost leaped off Santa's red lap to get to them. Some of the kids probably didn't get new books very often. I was so pleased the outreach extended to them.
Next week the pictures will be ready. Free of charge. Santa, candy canes, books, and photos to hold make for a bright Christmas memory. I love our library.
