I loved the counting rhyme 'Over in the Meadow' when I was a kid. The idea of basking and being told to bask filled my imagination. I could see little lizards hanging out on the rocks, absorbing the sun into their reptilian skin.
As I grew, I discovered how much I enjoyed basking in the sun. Whether on the lake in the kayak, a porch on the coast, or my private garden spot in my backyard, I gravitate to the light like a sunflower.
Today, as a sat on my bench in the afternoon sun, I remembered how healthy it is supposed to be. Vitamin D, I think is what is supposed to come from those rays. I bared a bit more to let the warmth sink in and rested against the heated wood. I felt tight muscles unkink and was thankful for being back in Oregon.
Yes, this winter child is very fond of sunshine! I will always follow the mama lizard's directions as she encouraged her little lizards eight to bask in the sun, on the old mossy gate.
(note:I opted to play with the photo changes and thought this was kinda fun!)
