I've been thinking about a quote from Hans Christian Anderson. "Just living is not enough," said the butterfly, "one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.”
It is a beautiful summation of what one needs in life. Living and existing is so not enough! I am thankful for the friends I have who encourage me to find the sunshine, freedom, and the flowers. They are the lovely lights in my world. The sparkles that illuminate and add color.
When we allow ourselves to embrace the sunshine, the freedom naturally follows, and there we find the flowers. You can be in a room with an injured limb or on a plane bound for who knows where. The sunshine is near. It may be dim at the moment, but it is there. The freedom is often around the corner or over the edge of the box. Think outside it, live outside it, or turn it into a transmorgifier and fly away!!! One of the images I see in this quote is sipping from beauty. I don't need a lot, but I need it. I crave beauty and appreciation and like a cat, I purr when praised and loved. I'm sure I'm not the only one!
