I loved the idea of the lost being reborn as himself and discovering he really wasn't lost after all. Fletcher is encased in a creation he asked to have made, but it does have air holes in it. He is left alone to wait until it is time to hatch. The girl is distracted by something different, but those new experiences didn't really fill her life like the older love. She is devastated by the loss of someone important to her. I don't think I understood the meaning behind the story, if there even is one. I did enjoy the fun and the illustrations of a giant dog leaping out of an egg shell!
A neat story filled with fun memories from an old picture book.
