I am interested in this particular month because breast cancer runs rampant in my family. My maternal grandma died because of it when she was in her 80's. My mom had both her breasts removed several years ago-they each had different kinds of cancers in them. One of my good friends from HS didn't get to turn 50 before breast cancer took her away from us. I've been checked and now have a tiny chip inside the left one as an indicator.
Oddly, the last mammogram I had was better. The gal who did that one said, "I'm not supposed to say anything, but these look great. Why on earth did they put a chip in you?" She was less scary than the one who shook my hand after the test and then wished me luck. From her hands I went to the hospital and had some ultrasounds done..that was a very long spring!! It ended with the chip. Maybe it has my name and address on it in case I get lost.
My sister has never been tested. She said she has an aversion to the C word. I'm not fond of it either, but that isn't any reason to stay away from doctors! Unless they microchip you inside an MRI machine. Even then, please, if you care about your girls, get a mammogram. Please.
