I saw this meme today and I haven't stopped giggling. I saw one similar, but for some reason, this one seems more humorous. I shared it with Bear and he laughed out loud!
Petunias are an interesting flower. They are frilly with floaty blossoms which need removed after their short bloom time. It has taken me quite a while to enjoy these annuals. They seemed too frivolous. I often thought it was silly to spend cash for a silly plant which would die in 5 months. I wasn't fond of outside flowers. Unless they were fireweed or something which would come back every year. (Side Note:I didn't know impatiens were an outside plant til I started gardening for myself after moving to the states!) When Princess Diana got married, I hated her dress. It reminded me of an inverted giant white petunia. On the coast, slugs loved to nibble on petunias. Once again, I was certain they were a fancy flower meant to do little more than waste money.
Moving to the east, I realised they really aren't that bad. It took several years for me to discover this, though. Now, I enjoy clipping back the spent blossoms, encouraging the plants to grow, and kissing their happy faces as they greet the sun. This year, I'm especially impressed with my pot of pink petunias. They are almost bursting from their planter in cascades of pink.
Well done, my little friends. Well done!
I grew up in Alaska, went to college in Portland, OR and ended up on the coast for 17 years before moving East. Am interested in many different things and am looking forward to sharing them with you!
